Talmadge Knight, Owner
A resident of Saluda, South Carolina, just thirty miles north of Mount Vintage, Talmadge Knight has been in the apparel business most of his life. For thirty-five
years he owned and managed Knight Apparel, an international apparel corporation which provided women's wear to a broad variety of retailers and branded apparel
companies. In the course of his career he operated a number of manufacturing facilities in the United States, as well as sourcing products from around the world.
His company ranked consistently as one of the top ten privately-held companies in South Carolina.
Mr. Knight became a partner in Mount Vintage because of his strong interest in and passion for golf and has devoted an enormous amount of time to insuring that
Mount Vintage Plantation Golf Club is one of the best courses in the nation. He is married with three children and four grandchildren. He maintains his principal
office in Saluda.
Bettis C. Rainsford, Owner
A native of Edgefield County, South Carolina, Bettis Rainsford is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. For over
twenty-five years he has been involved in a broad range of business activities. His most significant business achievement is that he was a co-founder and longtime
Chief Financial Officer of Delta Woodside Industries, Inc., a textile and apparel company which was a one-time member of the Fortune 500.
Over the years he has been involved in a variety of real estate development and construction projects, including shopping centers, industrial parks, nursing homes,
apartment projects, office buildings, historic restoration projects, and residential developments. It was his vision which led to the acquisition and development
of Mount Vintage Plantation, and he has been actively involved in every facet of the project ever since.
Mr. Rainsford has a passion for the history of this state and region. He has done a
tremendous amount of research into the history of Mount Vintage which he has
incorporated into the development and marketing of the Plantation. He has four
grown children and lives at Gup's Hill Plantation, a few miles north of Mount
Vintage. He maintains his principal office in Edgefield.
